Project Ideas
This is a running list of things I would enjoy building. The common thread: useful software with solid backend foundations, clear interfaces, and room to learn something new.
Search that understands context
A compact search service that combines exact keyword matching with vector search, metadata filters, and sensible ranking. I am especially interested in the parts that make search practical: observability, evaluation datasets, and a simple API that other applications can adopt.
Workflow-first AI assistants
An assistant is only as dependable as the workflow behind it. I want to explore agent systems that use durable orchestration for retries, approvals, state, and human handoffs—rather than treating every task as a one-shot prompt.
A personal knowledge service
A private place to index notes, links, and project documents, then retrieve them through a small API. The challenge is not just retrieval; it is building an experience that keeps sources visible and makes it easy to correct stale information.
Better backend developer tooling
Small tools that make local development less fragile: reproducible environments, useful API fixtures, and dashboards that show what a distributed workflow is actually doing. These are the kinds of projects that improve everyday engineering work while teaching me more about systems design.
